Discussion Items

CLSP Updates

  • Welcome Geoff Brown from Niagara College to the subcommittee (jonly attending this meeting, new colleague will join next time)

  • Niagara College has joined the CLSP but will be implementing in 2023. Mohawk is also planning to join but waiting for formal agreement to be signed. Means all Ontario colleges will be using Ex Libris Alma and Primo.

  • Met/Cat Subcommittee identified local field tagging and shared information via blog post. They are also working on minimum bib standards for CLSP to ensure level of quality control for records in NZ.

  • E-resources Subcommittee are working on workflow with OCLS for managing records for collections not in Community Zone.

  • SAD subcommittee is working on Briefing Note for Statistical Categories in Alma and it will be sent for ISC approval soon.

  • User Experience (formerly Discovery/Front End/Customer Servicer) subcommittee is creating an overarching statement on DEI for Primo and suppression of offensive terms in subject headings. Also, they have proposed a resource sharing model based on college requirements which will be the peer-to-peer model.

PR

Branding Working Group Update

  • New presentation from Aubs & Mugg today. We will set up a separate presentation for TCPR

  • UPDATE: Due to short timelines, Jane has asked the TCPR members watch the presentation recording and vote at the feedback survey instead.

  • ACTION ITEM: Everyone to view CLSP Branding Project | Branding Names Presentation 3 April 18archived at complete feedback survey

  • Aubs & Mugg will be providing templates that colleges can customize and use for promotion.

  • There is also discussion about creating a promotional video to launch Alma & Primo, which would be dependent on branding from Aubs & Mugg.

Training

Expanded version of CLSP Alma & Primo VE LibGuide (Aura)

  • Aura and Lauren (Seneca student) showed the expanded version of CLSP Alma & Primo VE LibGuide. It was agreed to launch the new material as is and consider the Guide a living document that will be improved and added to over time.

Developing material for student and faculty (Liana/Aura)

  • There was a proposal for developing training material, such as generic presentations/templates, for student and faculty about Primo VE. However, it was felt that the presentations would need to be customized so much for each class, generic versions would not be useful.

  • Potentially a video that highlighted Primo features and covered some basics would be useful. However, individual colleges may want the video filmed in their instances of Primo.

  • For video, it is not necessary to show the whole screen (i.e. college logo), but just focus on the features, such as search boxes/results/going into results and some of the filters.

ACTION ITEM: Jennifer and Marnie will work on creating a script for a Primo video (searching, user profile).

https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/l/c/K0FvVY6L (Liana)

  • There have been requests for a training plan template from libraries who need to train their staff with proposed due dates for training. It is complicated because there may be different timing for different libraries.

ACTION ITEM: Everyone to review the Campus-Level Staff Training Plan and provide feedback, if any, to Liana (lgiovando@ocls.ca) by email.
