CLSP Updates
Report on activities of the ISC and other Subcommittees
Metadata Cataloguing Subcommittee: The Metadata and Cataloguing Subcommittee is currently working on establishing parameters for minimum and required standards for cataloguing practices. They are looking to address each resource type independently; currently, they are working on the minimum and required standards for steaming content, and their next project will be for ebooks. This Committee is seeing to have some of these standards established before Cutover, so that data clean-up can occur in tandem with data migration.
E-Resources Subcommittee: The E-Resources Subcommittee is currently working on a guide to help all colleges test their electronic resources. This guide includes information on how to test if links are working, if applicable resources are available for access and if proper access is being provided to users. Additional elements of https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CI/pages/459177993 of the Alma/Primo Testing Guide will be released later this week and will include more resources on these topics.
Systems, Analytics and Data Subcommittee: The Systems, Analytics and Data Subcommittee has approved https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CIS/pages/362643457 for system integration information pertaining to statistical categories. It is suggested that all colleges participate for the purpose of system-wide analytics leveraging.
User Experience: The User Experience Committee presented the https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CIS/pages/474349571 to ISC and it was approved. It contains overarching statement to recognize diversity, equity, and inclusion that can be used by any college on their instance of Primo VE. In addition, there has been continued work to decolonize and identify offensive terms present in current cataloging standards. There is also work being done to suppress this harmful language in Primo VE. There is a briefing note about the suppression of harmful terms in Primo VE in progress currently. It is recommended that each college considers including an EDI statement, the committee has included an example and instructions on how to do this.
Future Governance: A brief discussion about how governance will have to be addressed moving forward as the project moves towards the end of implementation. The consortium will need a certain level of leadership that will have to be maintained and committees will have to be re-evaluated as the project reaches its “completion”. More to report soon.
PR
Branding Working Group Briefing Note https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/resumedraft.action?draftId=511737867 was discussed by Alexandra Ross.
The branding information has been presented to the ISC and they have approved the brand name with slight revisions requested for the logo.
Alexandra presented the information that was approved by the ISC, provided feedback the ISC had given during the presentation and asked the TCPR Group for additional feedback on the presented information.
The language surrounding the name and slogan to be revisited (smoother French transition, and more comprehensive language to reflect both content and users)
Concerns about the accessibility of the logo and accompanying visuals was addressed (contrast and shape construction) and is under consideration
Aubs and Mugg to teach colleges how to use their branding in different contexts
The Branding Group hopes to make the official name and logo announcement this week to the CLO 18!
Training Updates
Updates to CLSP Alma & Primo VE LibGuide (Aura/Lauren/Liana)
Several Updates to the CLO LibGuide Introduced
New “How to Analytics in Alma” page has been published
Minor updates were made to the “Training Your User”. Hope to have a “generic” presentation available soon, this could be a customizable resource for any college library to us.
Policies and Standards will be updated with a section dedicated to EDI statements to be added. This strives to give colleges the opportunity to share and utilize different colleges' EDI statements.
Potential Resource Sharing Page to be added to the LibGuide - new information to be gathered in an upcoming meeting
ACTION ITEM: Aura and Lauren to make updates to the “Policies and Standards” section of the LibGuide, to add an EDI section
Update on Script for Introducing Primo (Jennifer/Marnie)
The document is designed to be a 30-second elevator pitch as to what Primo VE is
The script has been created in an attempt to provide the “minimum” of what all colleges should be using
The document discusses the different sections of Primo VE and relevant details attached to those sections
The script can be customized for students, staff or faculty consumption depending on what the institution needs.
The script is to be put in Training Your Users when it is ready for public consumption
ACTION ITEM: Lauren to add the Introducing Primo Script (Jennifer/Marnie) into the LibGuide when it is ready
