Part 4: Testing Electronic Resources

[Back to Part 3: Testing Functionality]

Introduction

Testing e-resources is challenging due to various issues, such as duplication, sign-in issues, etc. This page will provide guidance on how to approach testing your e-resources.

Testing of Network Zone Electronic Collections

All NZ collections are now configured for remote access and testing (including with linking parameters entered as applicable). Please seehttps://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/l/c/NA5r0WZU for information about how to test and report issues with your electronic collections, including a new form for reporting issues.

Testing & Decision-Making for Migration Process

Use the https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/l/c/XxYRfFY7 to walk through the process of testing your e-resources and determining how they should be migrated to your live Alma environment. This page also provides links to information about known issues with e-resources and troubleshooting duplication issues.

Testing Authentication

Determine if your remote access is working as you expect.

If you have Single Sign-On (SSO) enabled by your library and IT department, please watch this video showing the off-campus login experience in PRIMO VE. https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/c3ewq3VqYmk.

Ex Libris has also provided a Guide for Testing Your Alma and Primo VE SSO Authentication.

Check that your own student and other external user experience is similar to the video or Ex Libris guide. Please contact your IT and Ex Libris if there is significant variation that you do not understand.

Testing Collection Entitlement/Verification

Use the process at Testing Collection Entitlement/Verification to determine if you have all the collections you are entitled to (and none that you shouldn’t).

Testing Links in Primo VE

Use the tips at https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/l/c/jtQAi0Md to determine if your links in Primo VE are functioning as expected.
