Terri Duff, Fleming: How to keep resource sharing requests active when the locate does not find a partner
Set the rs_keep_rejected_request_active to Borrowing, if you would like to keep borrowing requests from your patrons active if the last partner in a Rota has ‘rejected’ the request (borrowing requests with Rejected by Partner status are still active) so that resource sharing staff could continue searching for the requested resources outside of Alma. For more information, see: Managing Borrowing Requests - Ex Libris Knowledge Center; Configuring Fulfillment Jobs - Ex Libris Knowledge Center
To keep borrowing requests active when the locate fails, change the Cancel request on locate failure setting in your resource sharing library details. Borrowing requests with a 'locate failed' status will then remain as active borrowing requests and the requester won’t receive the cancellation letter. For more information, see: Configuring Parameters of a Resource Sharing Library - Ex Libris Knowledge Center;

Sarah Walker, Confederation: fines exceeding the $50 limit set in all policies
have all of our policies set to max out at $50 fines
someone’s fine recently exceeded the $50 fine (fine went to $105) and was also charged the replacement fee etc.
Danielle: does that particular item belong to a location that is different and not subject to the caps and configuration?
Sarah: so if the location has a different policy than the item policy, the item policy doesn’t wipe that out?
Danielle: not sure about that
Sarah: all of our policies, for location or not, say that they max out at $50
Sarah: there is a different item policy because it is for headphones, but attached to a TOU that also says a $50 maximum
Dana O’Hagan, Niagara: This is also happening to us. We are also noticing that when an item is lost (technically don’t charge fines for books, certain kinds of books, when they are overdue, so a lot of students will keep them and until they are marked as lost) but I thought I had set it so that when the book is returned the item cost of the book will be waived as well as the fine, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Victoria: We've been having similar issues. Not sure if it's related to there now being two amounts.
Danielle: has anyone put in a ticket?
Sarah: not yet, we just noticed it
Danielle: there is a configuration table that allows you to set that top amount per location and also per patron group as well - that’s one spot, but there are also a couple of other spots too where sometimes the configurations make a difference; are they all the same patron group?
Sarah: for us, it's just the one student
Dana: we've noticed it with staff and students
Victoria, St Clair: for us it has just been students
Danielle:
Patron Charges Configuration . This is for fines/fees NOTIFICATIONS - not the actual fee itself.
If you are having problems with fines extending past what is configured in the TOU, you might benefit from checking 'Patron Limit Definitions.' Not sure if this will help in Niagara's case, but it's worth ruling out. Below is a Sandbox screenshot of Patron Limits Definitions. To access this config table from Configuration > Fulfillment > Patron Configurations > Patron Limits:
Here's a quick video to explain https://exl-edu.com/01_Alma/Alma_Administration/en/Fulfillment/Patron_and_Loan_Limits/
As an aside, there are other settings that can influence patron charges: see Configuration > User Management > Patron Charges
