Update from Decolonizing the Catalogue Committee
Decolonizing the College Catalogue Committee met last week. Patricia Buckley is stepping down and the subcommittee may become more of an advisory group. There will continue to be a connection with CLSP and Met/Cat subcommittee, and they were updated about the decolonization work in CLSP. Tiffany may be leading the group going forward.
Michelle from Canadore mentioned that the 695 field already being used by OCLC for something else (currently local field tagging table says “Reserved for the Authorship Identification”). The Met/Cat subcommittee will move this to field 693 and is considering using “author origin” for display in Primo VE. Dijiana is working on draft briefing note to bring forward to UX subcommittee for review.
Bibliographic Standards
2 levels of standards - required and recommended
Allow some latitude for records that would are still functional, but don’t have everything (e.g., brief records)
Requirements - if required field not completed, then you would receive warning and record would not be loaded (everything in colour in Excel is required).
Purpose of requirement: 1. required by system 2. user requirement for user tasks
Recommended - if not completed, record is not meeting minimum standards but may just receive warning, but record would still load.

Sarah was not able to attend the meeting and provide Conexxion would provide access to LAC records as an additional benefit for all colleges.

Deferred
Decision to set brief record rules in the NZ that will dictate the minimum required fields necessary in order for a new record to be contributed to the NZ (if a match is not found when running the linking job).
Questions that came out of Study Group:
Would like clarity on relationship between Local Tagging - Manual Bib Edits May Be Required, Network Zone and Local Fields Best Practices and Briefing Note 06 - Consortial Treatment of LC Subject Headings
Is there impact to colleges Migration Form?
Is moving 650 to 690 enough to preserve local heading or do we need another process to create a local authority file in the NZ (so other colleges could use subject headings)
Planning for session on local fields and cataloguing in the consortium
