Subcommittee Chair Update from Implementation Steering Committee
ISC Update:
The Implementation Steering Committee is preparing to transition to the Page 1+ Steering Committee (Page Turners for short)
The Implementation Steering Committee had their last meeting of 2022 on December 13th - their first Page 1+ Steering Committee will be on January 10th, 2023
The committee will consist of (roughly) the same members with minor role changes
E-Resources -
Systems, Analytics and Data - the SAD subcommittee is seeking to wind down its activities and transition into a “sleeper agent” committee, which will mean committee members will be ready to form around projects as needed
Met/Cat - the metadata and cataloguing committee will remain as it is for now, there will likely be revisions in the new year (such as terms of reference and responsilities)
TCPR & UX - both committees have dissolved permanently
Overall, everyone is getting ready to plan for 2023 - focus is being put of subcommittee and participant roles as well as the overall responsibilities to CLO in addition to Page 1+
Alma Digital
It has been confirmed that we have had access to Alma Digital this whole time
We were under the impression that there would be an implementation period for Alma Digital
Several colleges have begun building digital test repositories
In January/February there will be a refresher course about Alma Digital
There will also be a migration project for several colleges (those who have digital repositories/content), this will need Ex Libris support, and no timeline as of yet
Rialto
Several are on track for an implementation, may have expressed interest in an implementation
OCLS is working with ProQuest for a discount - currently, they are working to finalize he agreement
If anyone is eager to begin implementing Rialto they are free to sign an agreement with ProQuest and begin implementing
Leganto
Now that other projects are winding down there is more time and ability to dedicate to the Leganto investigation
An interest check regarding Leganto will be sent out in January
We will be checking Almas course reserve functionality and comparing it to the services Leganto offers to determine if Leganto could be considered a worth wile investigation
Review the CLO Metadata Standards Examples for the LibGuide (Deferred)
Review CLO Metadata Standards Excel Sheet - Resolve Yellow Tabs
The subcommittee focused on the “Standards” tab
Decided that the standards tab could use slightly modified standards used for e-book cataloguing
Call outs for what changes in specific material types (key fields that change)
Next meeting: map for CD-Rom and Standards
Discuss “Quick Reference Tools” for the LibGuides (Aura)
We have chosen a “simplified' approach for the tables
Decided not too include too many RDA links, or confusing/too extensive background information
We want to be able to provide additional information (similar to the first page), but contemplating the benefits of adding more information
Where should this be placed? What is the purpose and what is it supposed to achieve? How much context do we need?
A possible place to begin is with quick links. This will allow us to evaluate later if we need additional materials/ resources/ instruction (for common use cases)
We want to avoid too much information too quickly
https://clo-collaboration-spaces.atlassian.net/l/cp/LMp94TmK
Individuals to add links to the table for discussion about what we have at the next meeting and discuss if we are okay to have some or all of them on the LibGuide
Next record templates (Stacey) (Deferred)
Audio Streaming will be the next record template
Canada Commons - Document cataloguing standards (Stacey) (Deferred)
Links into “Standards” discussion
Maawi Database record - original catalogued record (Stacey) (Deferred)
Currently the record for this database collection do not have their own match points
RVM Authorities Support (Stacey) (Deferred)
OCUL has made a statement of support for the inclusion of the RVM Authorities in the Alma Community Zone
This statement was forwarded to the chair of CLO
The CLO Chair put out a statement of support regarding the RVM Authorities in the Alma Community Zone (the agreement reflects that they support this in principle)
Open Library Initiative (Stacey)
Stacey and Dijana are in conversation with E-Campus about their records (they are in Dublin Core)
Liana speaking with Ex Libris regarding records
If the metadata meets the standards Ex Libris would/could expose to the community zone for all to access
Serials Prediction Document - Humber (Stacey)
Ex Libris, serials predictions in Alma
Is the subcommittee interested in the Humber libraries staff individual creating a document to add to the guide (Alma/Primo VE Guide possibly) - allowing others to benefit from the work that Humber has done
The subcommittee agreed that it should be undertaken - and the reference should be put together with the audience in mind
Meetings for next year (Stacey)
There will be a couple more meetings in the new year
The meeting invitation has been extended into January (will cancel those meetings that fall during break)
Next meeting January 11th (hopefully some clarity by the end of January)
