ALMA & ILL/Physical Resource Sharing – Call for Subcommittee Research for Best Practices & Recommendations Discussion
Borrowing requests are available through Alma. Do we want to implement a strong network across province where students can borrow through other college libraries? If yes, what is needed to support this? Topics that may need to be researched include:
What is the need within the colleges for resource sharing?
What’s the capacity?
What needs to be enabled in Alma/Primo to make this work?
Need to determine if resource sharing is something the colleges want (was not in the past)
Need to consider common lending policies and what would those be
The subcommittee will consider preparing a Briefing Note/summary/background document for CLO18 Identifying considerations/decisions for resource sharing, focusing on physical resources for now in recognition that E-Resource Subcommittee & OCLS will be working on e-resource.
Review technical support documentation from Ex Libris need to be looked at (e.g. Physical Resources and ILL) and pulling out key considerations for CLO 18.
ACTION ITEM: Rachel will find Ex Libris documentation on this topic and post in Confluence. Other subcommittee members can volunteer for items and then begin researching before next meeting.
Resources may include:
