Subcommittee Chair Update from Implementation Steering Committee

• No updates to provide - this subcommittee will continue in its current capacity until the end of January

NZ maintained collection update schedules & expectations

• A publicly accessible schedule is available for people to review:

  • Welcome - OCLS Services for Page 1+ - LibGuides at Heads of Libraries and Learning Resources - Colleges Ontario

• Updates will continue to be made regularly to the schedule

Bibliographic records with ISSN and ISBN

• It was posited that bibliographic records should have both the ISSN and the ISBN recorded, thus allowing records to be discoverable by the 020 and or the 022

• It was agreed that, if available, both the ISSN and the ISBN be added to serial records to improve discoverability of resources.

• ACTION ITEM: Lauren Rupert to make modifications to the LibGuide - serials tab, adding 020. Making note of the recommendation to record both the ISSN and ISBN when available

Review the CLO Metadata Standards Examples for the LibGuide

• Questions:

  • Question: for ebook example - should it be an example of a record after having been loaded to Alma or an ebook record before ? (Stacey) Audio Streaming similar case - 003/035

  • Question: Should examples have a required 003 (print book, audiobook, audio streaming, website, VHS, Film) 003 - recommended, if applicable

  • Question: Serial - Example no 035 - should the instruction be 035 required in the absence of ISSN

  • Question: eSerial - what to put for missing 1XX or 7XX

Review CLO Metadata Standards Excel Sheet - Resolve Yellow Tabs

• Thesis

  • Suggested (and accepted) the Subcommittee follow the format of the CD-ROM tab, referring to a primary tab with topic specific changes/standards

  • The Thesis standards will follow those of books and e-books, with added fields

  • The following example will be used in the LibGuide:

• Microform

  • The subcommittee has agreed to conduct more research (examining the examples provided below) before the next meeting.
