Subcommittee Chair Update from Implementation Steering Committee

  • A new Metadata and Cataloguing Steering Committee has been approved by the CLO Committee. Stacey and Dijana created the recommendation, constructed a proposal, met with the current CLO president, summitted the proposal and received approval for the new Committee.

  • This new Steering Committee is a new and unique model that has been created by examining the upcoming work that will need to be done by the Steering Committee.

  • The Metadata and Cataloguing Committee will include two different elements

    • The Metadata and Cataloguing Steering Committee: This group will act as the core group of members. They will be responsible for steering and operational elements of the group. As well as planning, project identification and continued work. The membership for this group will be based on expertise. Membership will not be limited by: geographical region, college size, or duplication of participating colleges.

    • The second, larger part of the group, will comprise of 24 individuals - a representative from each college assigned to the group by CLO. This part of the committee will have less of a concern and commitment around “meeting”. Instead, this group will attend infrequent meetings to receive updates and new knowledge to bring back to their colleges and disseminate information. They will be responsible for ensuring those in their institutions remain up to date on new standards.

    • There will also be working groups formed as needed

  • Current membership is as follows: Dijana (Chair), Stacey (OCLS expert/representative). Dijana and Stacey will reach out to other individuals separately in regards to membership.

  • At present; it is anticipated that the new committee will be active as of the middle of April 2023. This leave the Metadata and Cataloguing Subcommittee to have 1 or 2 more meetings until the transition occurs.
