(question) What’s Next for Page 1+

The project remains on track with the majority of the implementation work completed. The project is beginning the transition from the implementation stage to normal operations.

Colleges have completed the Ex Libris Health Checklist form and confirmed that essential day-to-day library activities are functioning properly after Go Live. We are moving towards our final implementation milestone, “Switch to Support,” at the end of September. Switch to support means that the college libraries will send their questions directly to the Ex Libris Support Team via the Support Portal.

At the end of August, the college libraries had a demo of ProQuest Rialto, a one-stop vendor-neutral marketplace for academic content from a variety of publishers, aggregators, and platforms. If your college is interested in implementing Rialto, you can reach out to the ProQuest representatives.

The CLO Executive is reviewing a draft Page 1+ Governance proposal for Page 1+ subcommittees' integration into the future CLO structure. The subcommittees are also identifying long-term responsibilities that will need to be carried forward after implementation.

🔡 Page 1+ Implementation Basics

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Alma & Primo, here are some basics!

Project Overview

  • Project Status: On track & Live

  • Deploy Phase

  • Go Live Date: July 26, 2022

See Project Overview for more information.

Important Acronyms/Ex Libris Terms

Bibliographic records in Alma represent physical, electronic, and digital resources. They contain the bibliographic data about the resource in a specific format (e.g. MARC 21).

They are at the top of the record hierarchy in Alma. All holding records must be linked to the appropriate bibliographic record, just as item records must be linked to a holding record.

🛠 Useful Resources

During the implementation project, the college libraries have used Ex Libris’s collaboration site, Basecamp to have productive discussions with each other and share helpful information. However, Basecamp will become read-only site as the implementation wraps up.

We are excited to launch a new discussion forum on Confluence for colleges to communicate with each other about all things related to Page 1+.

The Metadata/Cataloguing Subcommittee has created a user-friendly CLO Metadata Standards LibGuide and cataloguing workflows that will be launched this month. They will be connected to the Page 1+ Alma & Primo LibGuide and will help to create and maintain high quality records in the Page 1+ system. Stay tuned for news about the launch as we are planning an online session to introduce these new tools.

(plus) OCLS Service Update

Page 1+ service proposals are being socialized in small groups of CLO members to gather feedback. If you have attended a session, OCLS would like to hear from you! Please review the presentation provided via email and the minutes for all sessions are available on Confluence [link]. If you have questions or feedback, please reach out to Virginia Roy (vroy@ocls.ca) as soon as possible. As OCLS needs to finalize this information to provide budget numbers for 2023/24, the earlier that questions can be addressed the better.

OCLS is also continuing their work to make sure Network Zone e-resources are discoverable and easy to access for the college libraries. They will also continue to create local package collections in Network Zone with guidance on selection from E-Resources/Acquisitions Subcommittee.
