  1. Will there be a control field coding that needs to be brought up to minimum standard? Will there be any local information that needs to be moved to 950-999? Does anything need to be marked #9 LOCAL?

  2. Local tagging 950 - 999 tags will need to be considered once the Met/Cat has defined local tags for the consortia

Suggestions for Non-Sirsi Libraries

The following are recommendations for data cleanup that may or may not be relevant to all libraries.

  • Fines, fees: clean up fines, fees, or other transactions that are older than a certain date and/or less than a certain amount, that should be forgiven;

  • Patron files: clean up and/or purge patron records that are inactive or expired and have no outstanding items, fines, fees, or other transactions

  • Clean up brief order records are old, should have been closed, or have been inactive for years.

  • You also may need to clean up any coding errors that may prevent items from being mapped to locations;

  • Weeded items: purge prior to cutover.

  • Consider control field coding that needs to be cleaned up.
