Action Items

Discussion Items

Round-table Intros & Introducing BSWG

Question for discussion: What does the Network Zone mean to you?

  • Tracking records, without junk

  • Getting rid of MARC junk fields

  • More advanced system, broader and more refinement and quality control options in NZ

  • De-duplicating effort/work and supporting colleges with effort they may not have the capacity to care for

  • Improve the quality of records for everyone’s advantage

  • See who has what - help collection development and selection

  • Accurate holdings, representative of holdings in each college

  • Slim it down so we have one good record of each item in the consortium

  • Resource Sharing?

  • I know that in my collection processes, I do a cross comparison with some catalogues as well as my searches for new resources. It is a way to help keep my collection development relevant.

  • assessing a new program

  • creating a base collection for a new program

  • What is important to be visible to our users, to be shared, what are we putting in these records and how are we sharing them?

  • How are we fitting with Discovery!!

  • I know that our Collection Librarian quite often looks for ideas for titles.

Keep thinking about what is important to bring into the Network Zone and what is “Clogging” the system.

What is our “Vision”

What was the vision for the CUC and what can be bring over to CLSP, What can we enhance on?

Real time updates in the system reflecting accurate holdings: “I’d like to see immediate representation of changes we make to records in the system - ie. no delay between the creation of new records. Shadowed records are instantly gone from discovery… etc.
