Session Notes

Discussion forum posts since last meeting

  1. Exact image of a specific journal title page for an article in that specific journal: GBC seem to have the specific image of the specific journal title page of a given journal article. I assume this is linked to the ISSN but maybe also to Syndetics ? Not sure if other colleges configured this ? if you have some info on this, care to share with us please ?https://librarysearch.georgebrown.ca/permalink/01OCLS_BROWN/1acol81/cdi_proquest_miscellaneous_2956160006

  • Michael Reansbury, George Brown: The portfolio title is coming from the Network Zone.

  1. Adding my inventory to a NZ record:

  • Danielle Emon (OCLS):

    • if updating an 050, best to put that in your holdings record

    • that allows you to carry that number over to multiple items if you need to

    • there is also a configuration to tell Alma where to put that in your holdings record

    • something to bring up with Metadata Steering re process/instruction - perfectly acceptable to adjust IZ holdings record, rather than updating the NZ record

Discussion:

Rebecca Pearson, Lambton - Storage space available for each college for analytics report:

Terri Duff, Fleming:

  • I recently changed all the envelope images in Alma D to something prettier.

Michael Reansbury, George Brown - adding concurrent users for electronic titles in public access field for portfolios

  • Leganto suggests adding information about how many users can access the resource

  • If unlimited users, might want to automatically set the citation to complete, because there will never be an access issue

  • if it isn’t unlimited access, might want to enter that in the public access field so you can run a report later to see how many people are getting turned away and then potentially the library might want to look into increasing their access

  • specifically for ebooks

  • Rebecca Pearson - we receive e-mail from ebsco when someone tries to get unlimited - if someone tries to open full text, isn’t there a notification?

    • Michael: this would be a more proactive approach

    • e.g. library would mark the title as limiter user (3 or single users) and when a professor adds it to their course list, the library will be notified

    • the library would be able run an analytics report to identify these resources and get notifications from the system

  • Emma Shaw, Sheridan:

    • We have it set p for rialto titles but its patchy at best

    • portfolio > view > acquisitions tab

    • serves the same purpose for us as a note that would be an authentication or a public note

    • works automatically if you purchase with Rialto, don’t use it otherwise

    • use it only for single user resources

    • don’t have Leganto, so not sure how they would work together

Rebecca Pearson - scheduled jobs status widget on home dashboard, import job errors

  • use monitor jobs everyday

  • get errors on the weekend for different Rialto import jobs

  • similar problems with import job error on the weekends experienced at George Brown, Fanshawe, Sheridan

  • Micahel Reansbury, George Brown and Terri Duff, Sheridan were told by Ex Libris that this is normal

  • Rebecca will try the Alma chat and report back to the group with the response she receives from Ex Libris

Rebecca Pearson - broken barcodes in letters

  • Barcodes on pick from shelf and hold shelf letters are working, but for other letters the barcode image is broken

  • has anyone else experienced this and fixed it?

  • Erin Williams, Fanshawe: also experiencing this right now with newly enabled letters and letters that they were already using - their course reserve/citation slip letter was fine last semester, but the barcode is now broken

  • Rebecca will send Ex Libris ticket and update the group
