  • Report on activities of the ISC and other Subcommittees

    • Metadata Cataloguing Subcommittee: The Metadata and Cataloguing Subcommittee is currently working on establishing parameters for minimum and required standards for cataloguing practices. They are looking to address each resource type independently; currently, they are working on the minimum and required standards for steaming content, and their next project will be for ebooks. This Committee is seeing to have some of these standards established before Cutover, so that data clean-up can occur in tandem with data migration.

    • E-Resources Subcommittee: The E-Resources Subcommittee is currently working on a guide to help all colleges test their electronic resources. This guide includes information on how to test if links are working, if applicable resources are available for access and if proper access is being provided to users. Additional elements of Part 4: Testing Electronic Resources of the Alma/Primo Testing Guide will be released later this week and will include more resources on these topics.

    • Systems, Analytics and Data Subcommittee: The Systems, Analytics and Data Subcommittee has approved Briefing Note 09 - SIS Integration Decisions for Improved Analytics for /wiki/spaces/CIS/pages/362643457 for system integration information pertaining to statistical categories. It is suggested that all colleges participate for the purpose of system-wide analytics leveraging.

    • User Experience: The User Experience Committee presented the Briefing Note 10 - Overarching Statement as an Ongoing Commitment to EDI. /wiki/spaces/CIS/pages/474349571 to ISC and it was approved. It contains overarching statement to recognize diversity, equity, and inclusion that can be used by any college on their instance of Primo VE. In addition, there has been continued work to decolonize and identify offensive terms present in current cataloging standards. There is also work being done to suppress this harmful language in Primo VE. There is a briefing note about the suppression of harmful terms in Primo VE in progress currently. It is recommended that each college considers including an EDI statement, the committee has included an example and instructions on how to do this.

    • Future Governance: A brief discussion about how governance will have to be addressed moving forward as the project moves towards the end of implementation. The consortium will need a certain level of leadership that will have to be maintained and committees will have to be re-evaluated as the project reaches its “completion”. More to report soon.
