Phase Four: Implementation - Omni University RS Partnerships

Phase Four: Implementation - Omni University RS Partnerships

Omni & Page 1+ Resource Sharing Project Summary

Ontario college and university libraries using Alma and Primo will work to establish digital resource sharing partnerships first and then start to develop physical resource sharing partnerships over time as the need arises and interest gathers. Establishing digital resource sharing partnerships first will allow colleges and universities to reach out to each other directly to create local physical resource sharing connections since the partner information will be in Alma. The colleges and universities will be encouraged to form connections between the individual institutions and to let both OCUL and OCLS know about them. When a critical mass of physical resource sharing partnerships is reached, project partners can start to consider rolling out full physical resource sharing between all Omni and Page 1+ partners.

Setting up Digital Resource Sharing between Omni and Page 1+ Partners

As of June 2025, the colleges are not yet set up for digital resource sharing between institutions but are aiming to complete this step of the project over the summer. Once OCLS and the colleges are ready to implement digital resource sharing,

  1. OCLS will add the Omni partners from the Resource Sharing Directory and distribute the partner profiles to the networked colleges.

  1. OCLS will create a rota for the Omni partners and distribute from the NZ.

  1. Colleges will create a new rota assignment rule for the Omni rota in their IZs with an input parameter to allow for digital requests.

  1. OCLS will provide instructions for all colleges (including those outside of the networked environment) on how to complete the required steps in their IZs.

  1. OCUL will mirror steps 1-4 on behalf of participating universities.
