πŸ“‹ Building for the Future

The project continues to move through the Build phase and remains on track. The college libraries are continuing to test functionality and adjust their Alma and Primo configurations to meet their own needs in preparation for Go Live.

We wrapped up our Alma Workshop at the beginning of March with extensive training on technical and patron services. All recordings and presentations are available on the CLSP Confluence site for those who could not attend.

We will be running a pilot project to test how manage institution-level records can link to consortial-level records in the Network Zone. This pilot will be used to develop procedures ensure that the Network Zone standards are maintained.

The Metadata/Cataloguing Subcommittee is developing a tool kit to help ensure standards are maintained as well. They have just launched a local field tagging guide to ensure consistent use of local field by the colleges and are developing minimum cataloguing standards for the consortium.

βœ… Project Update

Colleges have mainly completed data testing and moved on to defining their configurations. Colleges are are also working with their IT teams to enable Student Information System integration and user authentication for patrons. Some colleges have successfully completed this work and are sharing their information with other colleges, for example via the BOLT-CLSP Working Group which is shares information around integrations dealing with Banner.

Colleges have also started customizing the look and feel of Primo, our discovery layer. Ex Libris, the PMO and OCLS are creating extensive plans to ensure the cutover period from one system to another goes as smoothly as possible. Colleges will be preparing their data extract preferences and completing a survey over the next few weeks to ensure their data is migrated correctly and all their learning in the test environments is put to good use.

OCLS is completing data clean up projects in preparation for new data extracts being pulled for the final data migration and managing e-resource testing.

CLSP Branding Project

The CLSP Branding project has just had its third presentation on name options, with visual elements included for the first time. The exciting options will be distributed to those on our branding mailing list with a survey to provide feedback. A decision for the new name for the CLSP will be made soon!

πŸ”‘ CLSP Implementation Basics

For those of you that aren’t familiar with all things CLSP, Alma & Primo, here are some basics!

Project Overview

  • Project Status: On track

  • Build Phase

  • Go Live Date: July 26, 2022

See Project Overview for more information.

Important Acronyms/Ex Libris Terms

Cutover: The period where Ex Libris migrates final data from libraries' current ILS to Alma and creates the live environment. This period involves a freeze on acquisitions and circulation.

πŸ›  Useful Resources

As libraries plan training for their library staff, key employees, and users, the CLSP Training, Communications, and PR Subcommittee has been working on a basic Alma & Primo Guide as a starting point.

The CLSP Alma & Primo Guide is:

  • Is designed for library staff who have not been directly involved in the CLSP Implementation.

  • Will exist beyond the CLSP Implementation Project and serve as a living reference tool post Go Live.

  • Includes:

    • Basics page for basic information on Alma, Primo and the CLSP Project

    • Transition to Alma section for training resources - links to short videos and documentation

An expanded version of this Guide is coming soon, so stay tuned!

(plus) OCLS Service Update

OCLS has brought its first service proposal to the E-resources/Acquisitions Subcommittee for feedback and has several others on the way.

Since EDS is up for renewal, OCLS has been working closely with them to come up with a solution that will help smoothen the transition from EDS to Alma. There are two six-month terms within the offer to create flexibility and complementary resources are still included. Details have been provided to the colleges with a response date of May 6.

πŸŽ‰ Fun Stuff

We recently had an e-Resources Subcommittee working meeting where several colleges and OCLS worked together to test e-resources and help each other troubleshoot issues as a team. Another team member has created a LibGuide to help others with customizing the look and feel of Primo and integration issues. The collaborative spirit is already alive and well in the CLSP!
