Introduction

SIS integration can begin as soon as a college has enabled User Authentication. Colleges can also prepare draft SIS extract files for Ex Libris to review at any time.

New information will be added to this page as we learn more.

b) Details on SIS integration (extract, xml build)

c) Data dictionary (xsd for version 2)

Note: User group code definitions come from the Library’s current ILS, rather than those listed in the xsd link above.  "Mandatory" fields are marked.

d) SIS Loader PowerPoint and Sample Files from Ex Libris (Examples are from the US and not using Banner)

Shared Information From Other CLSP College IT and Library Staff

a) From Humber Library Staff

If a library chooses to have custom configurations in Alma, they may want to create a sample XML extract of this data to provide to their IT department. The document below includes instructions for extracting a sample user from Alma for IT staff.

b) From Algonquin IT Staff

I will share some details below that I hope are helpful for your efforts:

  • SIS: at Algonquin our SIS is an in-house system, not Banner.

  • Integration tool: to build a daily process that outputs and uploads the XML file to ExLibris, the tool we are using is SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services). In addition, we are using this third-party connector within SSIS to export the XML in the format that ExLibris expects: https://zappysys.com/products/ssis-powerpack/ssis-xml-destination/

  • The tools above are part of the system integration stack we already use for many other integrations, not just Ex Libris.

  • So far progress is going well, we can produce an XML file that was submitted to ExLibris for review, and they provided some minor feedback.

  • I am happy to share more info and code, but the problem I see is, unless you are also using SSIS, and the Zappy connector, our code will not really help you.

Please let me know any further questions, and if there anything else I can help you with,
