Introduction

Please review documentation and activity descriptions by February 28, 2022. You are encouraged to begin the integration process as soon as possible. User authentication with Alma and Primo VE should be set up no later than May, 2022.

Activities

Set Up Support Portal Cases

Once colleges have been provided the Alma test environments, ExL will set up Support Portal Cases for each college - one Alma one Primo for each college. IT personnel should be included as a contact in Support Portal Cases. Please contact your library if you do not have access to the cases. The cases will be used to provide instruction and support for college personnel working to set up user authentication.

Ex Libris will have a dedicated IT consultant to guide colleges through the setup. They will plan to meet individually with each college if necessary and set up meetings for colleges using the following Authentication types: SAML, LDAP, CAS.

Determine matching ID

Libraries should meet meet with campus IT staff to discuss any questions and identify a unique attribute needed for Alma authorization. Suggested attendees:

  • Library contact: library person who knows the unique IDs stored in the ILSĀ

  • Server administrator contact: campus IT staff responsible for authentication (will know unique identifiers)

  • User management administration contact: campus IT person who will code the patron extracts from the Student Information System (SIS) and the Staff Information/HR System (SIS) as the patron update will need to send the unique ID to Alma via the patron update process
