Requirement for Alma Certified Administrators

OCLS is currently negotiating with ExLibris on the terms of the agreement. One item on the list of changes they are pushing for is to remove the requirement for each college to have two Alma Certified Administrators. Instead, this requirement will be met on the consortial level: OCLS will ensure there are at least two Alma Certified Administrators across all participating colleges and OCLS.

Colleges that have the capacity to have staff train to become Alma Certified Administrators are still encouraged to do so. Currently, only colleges with an existing ProQuest subscription are able to sign to the ExLibris Academy website to register for the Alma certification course. Thomas is working with ExLibris to have them add the remaining colleges to the list. Currently, the colleges that are missing are Algonquin, Confederation, La Cité, Lambton and Northern.

Terms of Reference

Members of the committee reviewed the draft terms of reference that were put together based on a template provided by the SUNY consortium. The general feedback is that the list of tasks is ambitious and that there will be overlap with other subcommittees, and also existing committees such as the Bibliographic Standards Working Group (BSWG) and the CLO Metrics and Analytics group.

Erin asked how we should proceed in cases where there is overlap, should there be joint meetings with other groups? John will address this with the Implementation Steering Committee (ISC).

Erin also asked for clarity around the group’s responsibilities. For example with regards to issues that overlap with the areas of expertise of the BSWG, are we making recommendations or making decisions? John clarified that our role is to make recommendations and bring them forward to the ISC, who will determine how to action them.

Clarity was required around the mention of “printing requirements” as an item on which this committee should provide guidance. What does it entails? Amanda suggested that this may have to do with the fact that printers need to be registered as “Alma printers” in order to be used within Alma. This setup process may need to be coordinated.
