  • Cohort One will begin testing and troubleshooting on June 4th.

  • Cohort Two will be testing and troubleshooting on June 26th.

Preparation for Testing

  1. Ensure that you have the correct roles for performing resource sharing activities in Alma: You will need the roles of Fulfillment Services Operator or Fulfillment Services Manager role, scoped to your resource sharing library. Please refer to the configuration documentation if you need to add these roles.

  2. Prior to testing, implement the configurations for Go Live included in the configuration documentation:

  • Make your resource sharing library active for borrowing and lending

  • If you have deactivated it, enable the Requestable for Resource Sharing Rule

  • If you have deactivated them, enable your Rota Assignment Rules

  • If you have added display logic rules that hide resource sharing requests in your Primo VE, disable these for testing

**Ensure that you make borrowing and lending inactive in your library configuration immediately following your testing.

3. Identify at least 3 items that you have made available for resource sharing requests that you will be able to use for testing. We recommend that your partner should not also have a copy of that title.

Testing

A live demonstration will be held for each cohort. Members of each cohort have been paired into testing partners based on rota. See the Cohort One Partners Table below.

We recommend that you begin testing with your partner by replicating the demonstration done in the meeting. A recording is available here: .

The borrowing library demonstration included:

  • making a request (both methods),

  • sending the request to a partner,

  • “receiving the shipment”,

  • checking out to a patron,

  • and returning the item/”shipping the item back.”

The lending library demonstration included:

  • pick from shelf,

  • “shipping the item,”

  • and receiving the returned item.

Additionally you may want to practice sending a “general message” so that you can see what that looks like.

Other optional tests:

  • Cancelling a request

  • Rejecting a request as the borrowing library

  • Rejecting a request as the lending library

  • Placing a hold on the item

  • Renews

  • Renews when there is a second hold on the item

  • Any other tests that you would like to run

Known Issues

The RSWG identified the issues listed below during earlier testing. These are being examined by Ex Libris Support.

  • Due date: We are observing that the configurations as is calculate due date based on shipping day. We are still trying to find a combination of settings that accounts for shipping (because the transit delay configuration is not working as expected).

  • Recalls:  In order to facilitate a no recalls policy when a physical item request is placed for an item that has been loaned through a resource sharing request, the Recalled by Partner and Borrower Recall steps have been disabled in the Page 1+ Borrowing and Page 1+ Lending Workflows distributed from the Network Zone. Removing these steps from the workflow profiles preserves the due date for the item. However, renewals for the item will be blocked and status of the item will not be changed in the borrowing or lending requests lists. Staff will be able to see the status in the history of the request.

  • Letters: Barcodes in some of the resource sharing letters are not displaying properly. You might also notice additional issues with the formatting of your letters. Please note these issues as you test.

  • Colleges outside of the networked environment placing requests: Presently, institutions outside of the networked environment do not have access to the catalog of networked institutions. In order for an institution outside of the networked environment to have access to the catalog on a networked institution and place resource sharing requests directly from an item record in Primo VE, both institutions will need to implement deep search configurations for Primo VE. Once we have more details on how colleges in the networked environment and outside of the networked environment should configure deep search scopes, we will distribute an updated version of the configuration instructions.
